Our locations

Head office Babenhausen

Located near Frankfurt am Main, our technicians, engineers and scientists research new processes for water and wastewater treatment, develop hardware and software for the control system and provide support for the maintenance and operation of the plants and systems.

Location Leonberg

The center of our BHU product group offers system solutions for large volumes of process water and wastewater in industries worldwide and has excellent references and systems for biogas production from highly contaminated wastewater from the sugar industry.

Location Austria

In March 2024, Almawatech establishes a new subsidiary in Linz, Austria. The foundation enables us to offer our entire product range directly on site and to offer the Austrian market and our customers an even better service.

Location Brazil

Our subsidiary Eco Alma Tratamento De Efluentes Ltda builds and operates disposal centers for industrial wastewater in Londrina Parana and Maringa. The respective wastewater is delivered by various industrial customers and treated in the disposal centers developed in-house.

Location Essen

At the Essen site, our chemists develop and produce the right operating fluids for water-bearing processes. Our experts produce chemical products for process and waste water treatment, cooling and boiler water circuits, heating networks and membrane technology.

Our values

As experts in water purification and wastewater treatment technology, we work to conserve our scarce water resources. Our systems are designed in such a way that they can be regularly modernized and modified over a period of up to 50 years in order to meet changed or increased requirements. In the event of dismantling, the components should be able to be recycled or disposed of without any problems.

It goes without saying that we are a certified specialist company in accordance with the German Water Resources Act (WHG) and have DIN EN ISO 9001 certification.

A brief history of ALMAWATECH

ALMAWATECH was founded in 1999 by Gottlieb Hupfer and Gerhard Häring as Aquaplant GmbH in Stuttgart with the aim of designing water technology systems for industry and offering services for the construction of industrial water technology systems. The focus was on electrical engineering. After changing its name to AP System Engineering GmbH and relocating to Griesheim in 2011, the company established itself in the Darmstadt region and focused on working for a major supplier of industrial water technology.

In 2018, the company underwent a strategic change to become a full-service provider of plant technology and water chemistry products for end customers. The location was moved to Babenhausen and the name changed to ALMAWATECH GmbH. From now on, only direct services to end customers were offered and an extensive range of plant engineering solutions was developed together with research partners.

In 2019, the product range was greatly expanded with the acquisition of BHU Umwelttechnik GmbH in Leonberg. Since then, industries with large wastewater flows of up to 3,000 m³/h can also be supplied with proven system solutions.

In 2020, a competence center for water chemistry was founded in Essen/NRW.

Shortly after the company was founded in 1999, the founders began activities in Brazil, where the majority holding EcoALMA is now active in Londrina, Paraná. Agencies in Eastern Europe and Asia enable reliable support for international customers.

In 2024, the company now has around 50 of its own employees, in addition to a number of external employees and permanent partner companies who are deployed in the assembly and service area.
