ALMA Chem MCW was developed in 2022 and 2023 on the basis of many years of experience with chemical-physical water and wastewater treatment. The development project received funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) as part of the ZIM program, which made it possible to comprehensively expand the existing foundations and innovatively purify wastewater containing heavy metals.
The original focus of the project was on wastewater from mines. However, it is equally suitable for use in all other areas of wastewater containing heavy metals, such as metal, electronics, battery production, flue gas scrubbing, metallurgy and electroplating, recycling, etc.
The process is based on two-stage precipitation in a batch or continuous process, followed by filtration and, if necessary, selective ion exchange. The reduction of heavy metals is essentially based on simultaneous precipitation, a precipitating agent based on metal salt and an additional product containing sulphite, which is only required in small quantities. The multi-stage process makes it possible to achieve very low limit values for heavy metals, even in water with organic background contamination, as is usually the case in practice.
The technical system design is modular and can be implemented either in the ALMA module concept (container design) or in-house (tank design).
We are delighted to have completed the project extremely successfully and are now able to offer our customers two new innovative products.
