Aerobic treatment methods
Introduction to aerobic wastewater treatment
In aerobic wastewater treatment, the wastewater is supplied with oxygen in special aeration tanks to promote the growth of various microorganisms. These microorganisms break down organic compounds in the wastewater and thus remove them from the wastewater.
The aerobic process usually takes place in so-called aeration tanks. In the aeration tanks, the wastewater is enriched with oxygen using aeration equipment to enable the decomposition of organic compounds.
Aerobic wastewater treatment is particularly effective at removing organic pollutants. However, the process can also be used to remove inorganic phosphorus and nitrogen compounds.
Product overview: Aerobic treatment processes
Our biofiltration enables the biodegradation of carbon and nitrogen compounds as an effective pre-treatment for water circuits. This pre-treatment significantly reduces operating costs when the water is further used as process water. The system includes carbon elimination, nitrification and denitrification.

In the treatment stages of the ALMA Bio MBR, the organic load is reduced by biodegradation. The system is based on the combination of an aeration tank with fine bubble aeration and a membrane filter box operated in bypass with submerged plate modules.

Discover effective biologically activated filtration (BAF) for wastewater treatment. With the help of microorganisms, organic compounds and nitrogen are removed from wastewater and polluted surface water. The BAF method uses clay-based beads and an even distribution of air and water. Nitrification and denitrification can be carried out in a reactor or in separate filter stages.

The biological degradation of organic wastewater constituents in the process stages of the ALMA BIO BBI technology effectively reduces the organic load. The system is based on the combination of an aeration tank with fine bubble aeration and an integrated sedimentation tank. This enables effective biomass recirculation and therefore lower sludge disposal costs.

The system was specially developed for rural environments and is characterized by a robust and cost-efficient design. Various processes can be added if required. Additional treatment steps or parallel treatment lines for special wastewater can be added either in a containerized or free-standing design.

Anaerobic treatment methods
Introduction to anaerobic wastewater treatment
Anaerobic wastewater treatment is one of the most effective methods for cleaning industrial and municipal wastewater. Unlike aerobic treatment, anaerobic treatment does not use oxygen. Instead, the wastewater is treated in a closed tank with anaerobic bacteria. These bacteria break down organic compounds in the wastewater and produce methane in the process, which can be used as an energy source.
The main advantage of anaerobic wastewater treatment is its energy efficiency. Compared to aerobic treatment, anaerobic treatment consumes considerably less energy. In addition, the biogases produced can be used to generate energy. In addition, anaerobic treatment is particularly suitable for wastewater with a high organic content and is therefore suitable for a wide range of industries, such as the food industry or biodiesel production.

The ALMA BIOMAGE process is a customized solution for the effective treatment of whey and dairy wastewater and was developed by Almawatech. This innovative method combines an anaerobic biogas reactor with downstream wastewater post-treatment to efficiently remove not only organic impurities but also nitrogen and phosphorus compounds from the wastewater.
All system components and units are conveniently controlled via a touch panel integrated in the control cabinet within the ALMA MODULE. This module also contains the nutrient dosing stations, which feed nutrients to the biogas reactor in a targeted manner in order to achieve an optimum biogas yield.
