Task
Construction of a multi-stage pilot membrane plant for the removal of per- and polyfluorinated chemicals (PFAS) from wastewater.
The customer wanted the entire process technology to be made of stainless steel, the modular design in the technical room container and the overlaying of all stainless steel tanks with nitrogen.
System features
- Permeate yield > 80 %
- EX area (Zone 1) approved
- Closed design with nitrogen inerting
- Stainless steel version
Solution & implementation
The pilot plant comprises two membrane units: The first consists of an ultrafiltration unit with ceramic membrane rods to separate colloidal solids and protect the reverse osmosis membranes. The second unit consists of a permeate-staged reverse osmosis system(ALMA OSMO Process). Cleaning stations (CEB and CIP) are also integrated.
An outstanding feature of the system are the 73 integrated measuring points for pressure, conductivity, temperature, turbidity, level, pH value and flow, as well as the numerous pneumatic valves and pipelines. This comprehensive equipment enables a variety of operating modes of the system to carry out appropriate pilot tests.
The system was installed in a technical room container(ALMA MODUL) and is controlled using our ALMA Control software.
