Task
Treatment of refinery wastewater for direct discharge into a surface water body with a water recovery rate of 70%.
BHU carried out the conceptual design of the overall plant as well as the detailed design of all process stages except the membrane stages. BHU also supplied the key process engineering components for these stages and is also responsible for supervising the installation and commissioning.
Design data
Preparation quantity:
- Wastewater flow is divided into two main lines that are operated in parallel
- Line 1: 700 m³/h
- Line 2: 800 m³/h
Target parameters:
- 70 % water recovery
- Dischargeable into surface water
Solution & implementation
The procedure includes the following process steps:
Flotation, main biological treatment with a two-stage activated sludge process(ALMA BHU BIO), precipitation, flocculation and sedimentation(ALMA BHU LHPS), oxidative treatment with ozone, biofiltration(ALMA BHU BAF), biological polishing using ALMA BHU BiosS-Treat, ultrafiltration (UF), reverse osmosis (RO), concentrate nanofiltration (NF); activated carbon filtration.
